DIFFUSION
Diffusion is a secondary line of clothes that is created by high-end fashion house/designers that retail their brand at a blower price. By doing this, it increases their sales and expands their brand to a wider audience. Some examples are, DKNY - Donna Karen New York, CK - Calvin Klein, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and T by Alexander Wang.
TREND
Trends are extremely important in fashion. Trends normally start from the runway and then make their way onto the streets. Trends can be accepted or rejected. For example, parka jackets. Many high street brand such as Topshop and River Island, all created their own version of the runway trend and try create the best version of it that they can to compete against each other. Celebrities can also be a massive influence of trends. This is because many people look up to them and whatever their idol is wearing, they will want to wear the exact same. For example, Kendall Jenner made the ripped jeans famous in 2014 which made a lot of people want to buy them and influence high street brands to bring their own versions in.
HAUTE COUTURE
Haute Couture is the most expensive brand you can get in fashion. It is designed by high fashion houses that create high-end custom made clothes. To be a part of Haute Couture, you need to have about 18 member working under the designers name. Haute Couture can often be very trend setting. Designers such as Chanel, Dior, Saint Laurent, and Versace, are all a part of Haute Couture.
PRET - A - PORTER
Pret - A - Porter is a lower grade than Haute Couture. It is ready to wear and isn't made to fit one specific size, instead is made for a wide range of sizes. Pret - A - Porter is made for ordinary people. Brands such as Chanel, do both Pret - A - Porter and Haute Couture as it gives them a wide range and they can compare styles from both.
FAD
Fad is a short trend that is mainly rejected in fashion but stays in trend for being 'cool' and 'different'. For example, Crocs and tracksuits are a fad as they were extremely popular and were seen everywhere but the majority of people hated them. Fad fashion come in as a surprise and shock that came out of nowhere, but fades quickly, like disco pants and leg warmers.
SILHOUETTE
Silhouette is the basic outfit of clothing on the body that brings out your body shape. Some examples are, 'hourglass', 'pear', and 'apple' shaped bodies. The silhouette brings out shapes of the designs such as line, slow, form, proportion and balance. The design of the clothes should enhance the body shapes and bring them out.
GENRE
There are many different types of genre in fashion such as high-end, high street, and vintage. There ie also different types of fashion genre that you can identify yourself as, for example, emo, goth, punk, 80s, hippie, hipster, casual, formal and sporty.
CLASSIC
In fashion, classic could refer to different things. One being the classic fashion items of a plain white t-shit, trench coast, and the famous little black dress. These are all very famous and basic popular fashion items. Another way is classic materials. Some being cotton, jersey, silk, velvet, and flannel. These materials were very popular in the 1940s.
